I don't think I have words to properly describe what we saw today.

NASA has finally released the first full-colour science images from the James Webb Space Telescope, and they have fundamentally changed astronomy forever.

The deep field image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with the warped, stretched light of the earliest galaxies in the universe.

But for me, it was the image of the Carina Nebula's "Cosmic Cliffs" that truly took my breath away. Peering through the dense clouds of gas and dust in infrared light reveals hundreds of newborn stars that were completely hidden from Hubble. The level of detail, the clarity, and the depth are simply unprecedented. We have officially entered a new era of human discovery.
